Someone in your church is waiting on a test result this week. Someone else got walked out of a job on Friday afternoon. At two in the morning they are not going to open an app or scroll back through your sermon. What they have memorized is what they have.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
You have prayed with anxious people in your office. Twenty minutes later they are back in the car and the worry has returned. They cannot call you every time that happens. A verse they already know by heart can meet them in the parking lot.

Patience gets tested at the Tuesday night meeting that runs long. It gets tested by the volunteer who quits over the coffee schedule. You cannot preach that fruit into somebody on Sunday and expect it to hold on Thursday. What your people carry is what shows up on a Thursday.
