The New MemoryVerses is Here โ€” and So Are Church Pages!

Ryan Brown·June 11, 2026

Hello everyone! A little while back I gave you a sneak peek at two big things we'd been working on behind the scenes. Well... today's the day. They're both here! ๐ŸŽจ A FRESH NEW LOOK The full redesign of MemoryVerses.com is now live โ€” every page, top to bottom. It's a cleaner, calmer look that's easier on the eyes and easier to get around. Your home page is now a true dashboard: see your week at a glance, jump straight into today's practice, and keep up with your friends โ€” all in one place. Practice, your verses, your history and charts, the calendar... it all got the same loving treatment, and it works beautifully on your phone too. โ›ช CHURCH PAGES ARE HERE This is the one I'm especially excited about. Your church can now memorize Scripture together on MemoryVerses! Here's how it works: your pastor (or another leader) creates a free page for your church and posts a Verse of the Week โ€” ideally one that ties in with the upcoming sermon. When you follow your church, that verse automatically lands in your Memory Plan, no extra steps needed. Then the whole congregation memorizes together, in step with what's being preached on Sunday. You'll also see how your church family is doing โ€” who's been practicing this week, and a running count of every verse you've memorized together as a church. Want this at your church? Point your pastor or a ministry leader to the **For Churches** page (in the menu at the top of the site). Setting up a church page only takes a couple of minutes โ€” and once it's up, you can invite the whole congregation with a single link. As always, if you spot anything odd with the new design or have feedback, email me at ryan@memoryverses.com. Thank you for memorizing with us! God Bless! Ryan

A Fresh New Look and Something New for Churches

Ryan Brown·May 27, 2026

Hello everyone! I wanted to give you a little sneak peek at what we've been working on behind the scenes. Two big things are on the way. ๐ŸŽจ A FRESH NEW LOOK We've completely redesigned MemoryVerses.com โ€” a cleaner, calmer look that's easier on the eyes and easier to use. The whole new design goes live all at once in early June. Everything you already know and love is still here; it's just getting a fresh coat of paint. โ›ช SOMETHING NEW FOR CHURCHES This one I'm especially excited about. Soon your church leadership will be able to start a church page and lead Scripture memorization for the whole congregation. Your pastor (or another leader) picks a verse โ€” ideally one that ties in with the upcoming sermon โ€” and everyone who follows along can add it to their Memory Plan with a single tap. The whole church ends up hiding the same Word in their hearts together, in step with what's being preached on Sunday. It's a fun way to memorize Scripture as a church family. If you'd love to see this at your church, encourage your leadership to check it out. More details coming soon. God Bless! Ryan

Help Us Launch the Android App โ€” Testers Needed!

Ryan Brown·May 27, 2026

Hello everyone! The MemoryVerses Android app is almost ready, and I need your help to get it across the finish line. Before Google will let us release the app to everyone, they require that a small group of people test it first. I need **12 volunteers** who use Android phones to help out. ๐Ÿ“ฑ WHAT'S INVOLVED It's simple. You'll get a link to install the app on your Android phone, and all I ask is that you use it for a few minutes here and there over the next couple of weeks. Practice some verses, poke around, and let me know if anything looks off. Your existing account works in the app, so just log in and you're ready to go. ๐Ÿ™‹ HOW TO HELP If you have an Android phone and you're willing to help, email me at **ryan@memoryverses.com** and I'll send you the link and a few quick instructions. The first 12 people to respond are in! Once we have our testers and Google gives us the green light, the app will be available to everyone on the Play Store. Thank you so much. This is the last step before launch, and I couldn't do it without you. God Bless! Ryan

Update

Read Aloud Improvements

Ryan Brown·April 13, 2026

We've made several improvements to the **Read Aloud** feature โ€” the listen button that plays an AI-narrated reading of your verse. **Clearer verse references** โ€” Previously, numbered book names like "1 John" or "2 Corinthians" could sound slurred or garbled when read aloud. This has been fixed so verse references are now pronounced clearly and naturally. **Listen from your collection** โ€” Each verse card in your collections now has its own Listen button, so you can hear any verse read aloud without opening the practice screen. **3 free plays for all users** โ€” Free users can now listen to any verse up to 3 times before being prompted to upgrade. Previously, Read Aloud was premium-only. **Where to find this feature** โ€” Go to **Your Verses** and open any collection. You'll see a **Read Aloud** button in the toolbar at the top of the page โ€” tap it to hear the entire collection read aloud, and use the dropdown arrow next to it to choose from four different voices. You can also tap the small **Listen** link on any individual verse card to hear just that verse. If you haven't used this feature yet, I'd encourage you to give it a try! It really is helpful. And the four AI voices are all amazing quality. God Bless, Ryan

Big Announcement!

Ryan Brown·March 31, 2026

Hello everyone! I'm very excited to announce that we will have an iOS app available for you soon! Hopefully by the end of this week. The app is almost identical to our website. We tried really hard to keep all the same features and design you'd find on the website. One thing we are missing is our games. That will come with the second version of the app. Something else I wanted to discuss. When we built MemoryVerses, the goal was for the site to become a social network where you'd memorize scripture with friends and encourage one another throughout the process. With a social network, it would have been a lot easier to make revenue and continue the site's operations for free for everyone. But unfortunately, that plan never came together. Most people use the site individually and don't engage with the social features, which is totally fine! But with that said, we need a plan for revenue. We tried a donations page and received zero donations, which is fine again. It made me think, why should one or even a handful of generous people cover the costs for hundreds of other users using the site for free? We think everyone who uses the website and app should chip in for operational costs and continued improvements. With that said, we're going to introduce a free tier and a premium tier soon. We're also going to offer 50% off a yearly subscription for anyone who signs up before the premium tier goes live. And if you're a K-12 student, don't worry, the site will remain completely free for you. These premium-related changes will go into effect sometime the week after Easter. I hope the second part of this announcement isn't discouraging for you. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Feel free to email me: ryan@memoryverses.com. God Bless! Ryan

New: Family Accounts, Training Tracks, and More

Ryan Brown·March 19, 2026

We've got some exciting updates to share! ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ โ€” You can now add family members to your account. Each person gets their own profile, avatar, and verse progress โ€” all managed from one parent account. Switch between family members with a single tap. ๐ŸŽฎ โ€” Kids get a simplified, gamified experience designed just for them. Larger verse cards, trophy progression instead of scores, celebratory animations when they get it right, and a streamlined navigation that keeps them focused on memorizing. ๐Ÿ›ค๏ธ โ€” A new guided way to memorize collections - Try Verse Tracks. Verses unlock in small batches so you're not overwhelmed โ€” master your current set before moving on. Progress is tracked with a visual progress bar, and scheduling is weighted so newer verses get more practice. ๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€” After each verse, you'll now see context-aware encouragement based on your memory score. The messages reflect how well you actually know the verse โ€” whether you're just getting started or have it locked in. --- Thanks for memorizing with us!

March Update: Dark Mode, Smarter Practice, and More

Ryan Brown·March 11, 2026

Here's what's new on MemoryVerses.com: ๐ŸŒ™ **Dark Mode** โ€” MemoryVerses now supports dark mode! Choose between Light or Dark. You'll find the toggle in your Account Settings. Dark mode works across every page โ€” practice, collections, calendar, and more. ๐Ÿ”€ **Shuffle Queue** โ€” Verses now cycle through evenly instead of repeating randomly. You'll see every verse once before any verse repeats. ๐Ÿงญ **Session Context** โ€” A new row at the top of the practice page shows which collection you're practicing and your session progress. You can collapse it if you prefer a minimal view. ๐Ÿ’ฌ **Floating Hints** โ€” For longer passages, choice and hint buttons now float near the active word so you don't have to scroll. โœจ **Redesigned Onboarding** โ€” New users get a completely fresh getting started experience: a welcome screen with theme selection, AI-powered collection naming and verse suggestions, a mini practice session before you even finish signing up, and smarter defaults like auto-scheduling verses Monโ€“Fri. ๐Ÿ“… **New Calendar Layout** โ€” The monthly calendar has been redesigned as a week-row card layout (Monโ€“Fri). It's cleaner, easier to read, and streaks now correctly skip weekends โ€” Saturday and Sunday no longer break your streak. ๐Ÿ† **Memory Challenges** โ€” A brand new Memory Challenges page is live. Browse active challenges, see who's participating, and create your own. ๐Ÿค– **AI Verse Recommendations** โ€” Your Collections page now shows smart verse suggestions powered by AI to help you discover what to memorize next. ๐Ÿ“– **26 New Bible Translations** โ€” We imported 26 additional translations and added per-card translation dropdowns on browse pages so you can compare verses across translations instantly. ๐ŸŽฏ **Accuracy Fix** โ€” Memory scores were being inflated by counting duplicate attempts. This has been fixed so your difficulty ratings are more accurate. ๐Ÿ”ง **Under the Hood** โ€” Laptop-responsive layouts tuned across all major pages, mobile pages cleaned up with less clutter, and performance improvements to activity feeds and group queries. --- Thanks for being part of the MemoryVerses community!

New Update!

February 26, 2026

๐Ÿƒ NEW MEMORIZATION METHODS: Flip and Choose / Flip and Type Two new ways to practice your verses. Flip and Choose shows you a card โ€” flip it and pick the correct next word. Flip and Type is the same idea but you type it out instead. Both were built with mobile users in mind, but they're just as fun on desktop. To try them: Go to any verse in your collection and select one of the new methods from the practice menu. --- ๐Ÿ“Š WEEKLY SHARING REPORTS Now when you share a verse, you'll get a short analytical report every Monday morning showing how many people practiced the verse you shared. If you're a pastor, small group leader, or just someone who likes sharing Scripture with others โ€” this is a great way to see who's engaging. --- ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ BUG FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS - Sort function fixed โ€” sorting verses in your collection actually works properly now. - Edit a verse โ€” made a typo when adding a verse? You can now edit it directly in your collection instead of deleting and re-adding. - Arrange verses โ€” you can once again drag and reorder the verses in your collection however you'd like. This one was missing for a bit โ€” it's back. --- โš ๏ธ ONE MORE THING We've updated the entire practice page under the hood. If you run into any bugs or anything feels off, please let us know so we can get it fixed quickly. --- Hope these updates make your memorization time a little easier and more enjoyable. As always, thanks for being part of this community. Ryan

New Game Launched + New Features

Ryan Brown·February 2, 2026

๐ŸŽฎ NEW GAME: Scripture Striker We've launched a new arcade-style blaster game โ€” thanks to Theresa for suggesting this one! Here's how it works: Scripture text will appear in the middle of the screen. You'll have 4 seconds to read it, then you have to blast the asteroid that has the correct verse reference. Simple concept, surprisingly fun. A few details on game modes: - Popular Verses โ€“ There's a pool of 100 verses that a game will be created from. Only one unique game is generated per day, so all of us can play the same game and see who does the best. Resets the next day. - Your Verse Collection โ€“ This mode is unique to you. The game pulls verses from your own collections. You can share this game with others via a link or post it to your friends' activity feed so they can play the same game. One more thing: for the Popular Verses game, we'll try to display the scripture text from your own collection if you have that verse saved. So if the game wants to show John 3:16 and you have it saved, we'll grab your version instead of the default BSB translation. Practice the way you want to practice. --- โœ‰๏ธ ENHANCED VERSE SHARING Now when you share a Bible verse with someone, they can practice it right on the page โ€” no sign-up required. Perfect for encouraging Bible memory with friends and family. Thanks to Kirk for this suggestion. To share: Go to your verse collection โ†’ select a collection โ†’ click into a verse โ†’ click "Share" --- ๐Ÿ“ MOVE VERSES BETWEEN COLLECTIONS You can now move a verse from one collection to another. Great for reorganizing how you've set things up. Located in the same spot as "Share" โ€” just click "Move" instead, select your destination collection, and you're done. --- Hope these new features are a blessing to you. I know I've enjoyed playing Scripture Striker way more than I expected. Hope you enjoy it too! Ryan

New Feature

Ryan Brown·January 20, 2026

Good morning! We've released a new feature! Now you can "pause" a verse. If you go to your verse collections and click on a collection, you'll see a new "pause" button. The reason for this: let's say you added too many verses and realized it's a bit overwhelming trying to practice them all. Instead of deleting a verse, you can just pause it. Then it won't show up on your practice page for that collection. Also, I have a friend who recently started using Memoryverses, and they experienced an issue on their mobile device. The "practice a verse" feature wasn't working like it should. If you've had glitches while using a mobile device, please let me know. It would be helpful to know which browser you were using. As always, hope the site is fruitful for you. Ryan

Minor Update

Ryan Brown·January 13, 2026

Good morning, We made a few minor updates: 1. Added a 'Practice All' link where you can practice all of your memory verses in one place instead of going to each collection. Thank you to the user who made this suggestion! 2. Fixed a few bugs in the Memory Challenges. Now when you create a memory challenge, you should see activity posts on your friends or group page, depending on where the memory challenge was issued. You'll also receive email updates letting you know who's at the top of the leaderboard. 3. New feature - Video Recording. Now you can record a video of yourself reciting a Bible verse, then watch a playback with the transcript on screen. The transcript will highlight the words you recited correctly or incorrectly. You can share that video with friends for accountability and encouragement. God Bless, Ryan

Minor Update

Ryan Brown·January 8, 2026

Good afternoon everyone! Wanted to quickly share a few patches we made to the code: 1. Made improvements to the 'Auto Difficulty' practice feature. Should work more reliably now. 2. Continuing with 'Auto Difficulty' โ€” each verse you practice will now remember its own difficulty level. Previously, there was a bug where if you were practicing multiple verses and one was set to the hardest difficulty, every verse after that would also jump to the hardest setting, even if it was brand new to you. 3. Added a privacy toggle for the user page and friends page. 4. Bible memory games are now available to everyone, even if you're not logged in or a member. 5. Added a brief feedback popup. Will only trigger once per member. Just trying to collect more feedback to help us develop the site. Okay, have a wonderful day! Ryan

New Update!

Ryan Brown·January 6, 2026

We just released a new version of MemoryVerses.com on January 1st! The newest version includes: 1. More robust friend and group activity feeds. You can be encouraged by seeing much more activity from your friends. 2. Import a verse collection - now when creating a new verse collection, you can choose if you want the verse collection to be shareable. If so, your friends will be able to see the new collection and import it for themselves to practice. 3. Memory challenges! Now you can issue friendly memory challenges. You can challenge your friends or group members to memorize a specific Bible passage or reach a total memorized verse count. 4. Bible memory games! We've created several to get you started. Still a work in progress on making more 'game-like' games, but it's a start. Let us know how we're doing. 5. As you may or may not have noticed, the layout is slightly different with a new left-side fixed menu. We think this allows for better movement between your friends page and your verses page. Let us know what you think of the update! Just a note - my wife and I are the only ones behind this site, so your feedback and encouragement really do mean a lot to us! God Bless. We really do pray this site is fruitful for you. Ryan and Samantha
