Our Story

Why we started
Memory Verses

Memory Verses began as a challenge from my wife. She decided to memorize one Bible verse a week, and invited me along on the journey. Even though I resisted, I couldn't help but notice the changes in her — and the excitement that built as she got to know more and more of God's Word for herself.

That's when this online form of memorization was born. I created a program that prompted me to type out each Scripture from memory, filling in the missing letters to complete the verse. The results were amazing! What she had learned in eight weeks took me just one week to memorize.

Ryan started Memory Verses after a one-verse-a-week challenge from his wife showed him how much knowing Scripture for yourself can change a heart. He builds everything from the practice engine to the progress tracking, so that believers everywhere have a simple, joyful way to commit God's Word to memory.

Reina is an undergraduate student with a passion for media creation and crossword design. As a designer on the Memory Verses team, she channels her creativity freely, developing Scripture-based puzzles. Each crossword is created with the intention of building a “safe” space for Christians — and those who are curious about Jesus Christ — to engage with the Bible through memorization.

For Reina and the Memory Verses team, creating these puzzles is a good way to stay rooted in God's Word. She hopes players find the experience just as enjoyable as she finds the creation process. One CROSSword at a time! 💗
